Party like it's 2004!
Let's all take a moment to remember the greatest night in Red Sox history. Tonight is the two year anniversary of the Boston Red Sox winning the 2004 World Series after sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals. Oddly enough, the Cardinals may win the World Series themselves tonight, as they lead the series against Detroit 3 games to 1 and will play Game 5 in an hour or so. Maybe October 27th of 2006 will be a better night for the Cardinals than October 27th of 2004.
Let's go back to that fateful night and relive the miracle. The Sox beat the Cardinals under the light of a full moon and an eclipse!
The Sox silently prayed as the Cards were down to their final out.
Papi, like Manny, sometimes forgets how many outs there are. But that's okay, because his celebration was only a moment too soon...
As Doug began to imagine the bidding war over the ball, the Red Sox became World Champions for the first time in 86 years!
Tek, like the rest of us, probably thought he'd never live to see the day!
That's what true happiness looks like, folks. Take a good look.
Youk proves that white men CAN jump. For joy, at least!
Tek still can't believe it.
Neither can I, really.
"Pedro, Schill, Papi...you've just won the World Series! What's running through your mind right now?"
My thoughts exactly.
Let's hope we get to see an image similar to this one next season...
Trot firmly occupies the right field of my heart. I'm not accepting any replacements. Not even Gabe the Babe.
Johnny Damon, planner extraordinaire.
I know that Manny won MVP, but I think the award should have gone to someone else.
D-Lowe may go down as the most consistently inconsistent pitcher in Red Sox history, but he was the ace of the post-season. Sure, maybe he didn't have his ankle stitched together or sport a blood-soaked sock, but the sinkerballer was unsinkable and kept the team afloat.
Happy anniversary, Red Sox Nation. Now go out and party like it's 2004.
